Guide to Registering for JLPT Online in Japan
Register online via MyJLPT on the website of the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES). It's best to register early because there are a lot of candidates, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.
Step 1: Access the Official JLPT Website
Go to the website https://info.jees-jlpt.jp, on the homepage if you want to select English, click on "English"; the default is Japanese.
If you already have an account, click on ログイン to log in, or select MyJLPT IDに登録 to create a new account.
Step 2: Create a MyJLPT Account
If you already have a MyJLPT account, skip this step.
After clicking on the MyJLPT IDに登録 button, the screen will look like the one below. For individual registration, select 個人, and choose your language; here, I'll select the Japanese interface.
Then, click on 同意する to agree to the terms.
On the information entry screen, enter your personal details accurately, then select 内容確認 and create the account.
After confirming all the information, you'll receive a confirmation email from the JLPT organizing website; use the link in the email to log in.
Enter your ID and password, then click on the ログイン button to log in.
If you've forgotten your password, select the line ※MyJLPT IDを 忘 わす れた 方 かた はこちら/To remind your "MyJLPT" ID, Click here to reset your password.
Step 4: Register for the JLPT on the Website
After logging in, the first screen will look like this; select 受験申込み to start the registration process.
Select 個人で申し込む to register as an individual.
Enter Personal Information
Next is the information entry section; fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required. Enter accurate information and upload a photo; the photo must be passport-style, with a clear face and bright background, meeting the specified standards.
The アンケート section is just a survey; it's not crucial but you still need to select options—it doesn't have to be precise.
After entering your personal information, click on the 受験料支払へ button to proceed to the payment screen.
A small window will pop up for you to confirm the information; the two most important details to double-check are the JLPT level and the test location. Click on OK to confirm.
Select Payment Method and Pay
The exam fee as of 2025 is ¥7,500. There are 3 payment methods:
クレジットカード：Pay via credit card
銀行振込み（ペイジー）：Bank transfer
コンビニエンストアで支払い：Pay at a convenience store
Payment deadline: within 15 days from the registration date.
Paying via credit card is the fastest and most convenient, so I select 支払方法：クレジットカード.
On the confirmation screen, if there are changes, select 申込者情報を変更する to edit; if everything is fine, select 申し込む to continue.
Since I chose credit card payment, the next screen will require entering credit card details, then select 確認画面へ進む, and この内容で支払う to complete the payment.
Finally, a screen like the one below will appear, notifying you that the payment was successful!
Receiving Your JLPT Test Voucher
After successful payment, a few weeks later, the JLPT test voucher will be sent to your address. Keep this voucher safe to bring to the exam.
